Description Of Phenol:

Phenol is a colorless to white crystalline material of sweet odor, having the composition C6H5OH, obtained from the distillation of coal tar and as a by-product of coke ovens. It'sthe simplest member of a class of organic compounds possessing a hydroxyl group attached to a benzene ring or to a more complex aromatic ring system.

3. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in benzene and alkaline solutions,

4. Soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, glycerin, glycerin, acetic acid

Applications:

1.It is an important raw material for organic synthesis. It can be used to produce phenolic resin, bisphenol A, phenolphthalein, picric acid, salicylic acid, alkyl phenol and other chemicals. It can also be used as a solvent.2.

2.Used as raw materials for manufacturing resins, synthetic fibers and plastics, and also for the production of  pharmaceuticals, pesticides, etc.
